Thank You Cards
When you’re coming up on the end of your internship, it’s customary to write thank you cards to your supervisor(s) and/or anyone that supported you during your time there.
A well thought out, hand-written note can go a long way. It’s a simple and inexpensive way to show your appreciation, as well as create a lasting positive impression on your team. I’ve noticed that colleagues (myself included) will even hang these thank you notes up at their desk. It’s just another great way to stay front of mind and keep those connections strong.
It’s customary to bring it on your last day or send it to the office within a few days of ending your internship. Some things to avoid: explicitly asking for a job, generic messaging (try to include one specific thing the recipient helped you with/you learned from them), and rushed/sloppy presentation.
The most thoughtful cards I’ve personally received have stuck with me to this day. Take the time to write something– it goes a long way!
